“I will cry out”

The following poem was submitted by a reader of our blog, Brittney McGregor.

I will cry out to the Lord…

With a heart that’s been shattered into a million pieces

And a soul that’s been crushed,

For I know He hears my cry

I will cry out to the Lord…

With eyes so filled with tears I can barely see

And a voice that’s hoarse from screaming,

For I know He hears my cry

I will cry out to the Lord…

With a body that’s exhausted from carrying the weight of grief

And a mind that’s worn out from the daily battle,

For I know He hears my cry

While I cry out with a broken heart and crushed spirit,

I will also praise Him for all the blessings He has given me…

Two beautiful children, a loving husband, and countless family members and friends

While I cry out through tear stained eyes and a strained voice,

I will also praise Him for His daily presence…

The grace that sustains, the signs of comfort He provides, and the peace that surpasses understanding

While I cry out from exhaustion, both physically and mentally,

I will also bow down and praise Him for

the promises He’s made…

The promise to return and bring me home…bring us all home…to the place where there will be NO more suffering and NO more pain

Yes, I will cry…a deep, guttural, wild cry the remainder of my days, for my heart is “forever” broken on this side.

However, I will also give thanks and praise, for the true forever awaits, and every tear will one day be wiped away. I will praise God for making the way, and I will praise Jesus for laying down His life to save ours. I WILL hold my baby girl again…for 16 years times infinity. 💜✝️
